I love reading quotes that can give one something to ponder about! Here are a few quotes about prayer.

I pray on the principle that wine knocks the cork out of a bottle. There is an inward fermentation, and there must be a vent. ~Henry Ward Beecher

Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines. ~Satchel Paige, 1974

We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.  ~Oswald Chambers

Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God. ~Author Unknown

Prayer gives a man the opportunity of getting to know a gentleman he hardly ever meets. I do not mean his maker, but himself. ~William Inge

Forgiveness Part 3

In the last two blogs we have been looking at some Scripture verses about forgiving, let’s look at a few more today.

Let’s turn to Luke 5: 21-21 in our Bibles.

Luke 5:21-24

King James Version (KJV)

21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. Only Christ can be the forgiver of our sin because He is the Creator and it is against Him we sin. Jesus forgives us our trespasses because He loves us setting the example of how we should love others. [ Matt. 6:12-14 ]

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Our forgiveness of sin is through faith. Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.  Through His name refers to Christ, the only one that can wash away our sin by His blood.

Forgiveness Part 2

Basis of forgiveness:

[a] Psalms 86:For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.  It is the nature of God to forgive!

[b] Luke 7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? It is by God’s grace we have forgiveness!

[c] Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Complete and perfect forgiveness comes through the shedding of blood!

[d] Col. 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Christ went and died on the cross at Calvary so we could be forgiven by the Father, making us joint heirs with Christ!

Forgiveness

I am thinking about forgiveness and that the Bible says about it and I am going to search and share some verses of Scripture about this subject.

Synonyms of  forgiveness:

“ Blotteth out”——— Isaiah 43: 25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

“ Remission”—– Matthew 26: 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

“ Pardon” ——– Isaiah 55:Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

“ Remember”—–Jer. 31: 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more

“ Healed” ——-2 Chron.30:18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The goodLord pardon every one

19 That prepareth his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.

20 And the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.
